The earliest known photo of the church, circa 1870.  Note the double rows of windows which were replaced with Gothic windows in 1891.

There was a public farmers' market just south of the church in the 1870's. 

Downtown in March, 1888.  The church is in the background, upper left.  The Leon Hotel is in the upper right.  Note the cow on Park Ave. and the awning-covered wooden sidewalks on Monroe street in foreground.
