Exploring Cuba Partnership

Four members of First Presbyterian traveled to Cuba in October 2016 to become familiar with the Presbyterian Church of Cuba and explore opportunities for partnership. A detailed report is available below, along with this report on the team’s observations during the visit.

As a result of this trip, we began exploring a potential partnership with the Iglesia Presbiteriana-Reformada of Los Palos, in the Havana Presbytery, and its mission church in Nueva Paz. First Church has joined the Cuba Partners Network, a group of reformed churches that encourage and support partnerships between Presbyterian churches in the United States and Presbyterian churches in Cuba. We were fortunate to be able to host the pastor of the Los Palos church, Rev. Izett Samá Hernández, in January 2020. Rev. Samá was named an International Peacemaker for the PCUSA Peacemaking Program in 2019. In September 2023 we hosted another International Peacemaker from Cuba, Rev. Alison Infante Zamora.
